The Long Island Society of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery is proud to announce the 5th annual LISO Medical Student Travel Grant. This is a $1000 grant to help a medical student travel to the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery Annual Meeting. As you know, the costs associated with travel can exceed the budget of most medical students and the annual AAO – HNSF meeting this year will take place from September 15-18, 2019 in New Orleans, LA. This grant is designed to help diffuse the travel costs for aspiring students.
The criteria to apply for this grant requires:

  1. The student be in good standing at his or her medical school in New York City, Westchester or Long Island.
  2. The medical student be a co-author on a paper being presented at the meeting (Poster or Podium).

Students seeking this grant are asked to forward:

  1. Proof of medical school enrollment (as of April for the year of the travel grant)
  2. Copy of the accepted abstract
  3. Cover letter briefly explaining why they should be awarded this grant (250 words or less)

The applicants should forward these documents to the current President of the Long Island Society of Otolaryngology Jay Rechtweg ([email protected]).

Applications will be accepted through July 15th. The applications will be blinded and reviewed by the LISO Executive Committee. One applicant will be awarded the grant. The grant recipient will be announced by August 15. The grant money will be awarded after the Annual AAO-HNS meeting and upon verification of attendance at the meeting and accompanying travel receipts.
